Wireless thermostatic radiator valves can help home owners curb the effects of energy price hikes

Wireless thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) that can help create heating zones in a very fast and easy manner are among the best solutions to help home owners curb the negative effects of energy price hikes, with ScottishPower being the latest supplier to announce a price increase.

The gas and electricity firm announced the hike on the 10’th of February – just one week after Npower confirmed one of the largest single price rises ever implemented by a “Big Six” supplier, adding an extra £109 to 1.4 million household bills.

The company blamed the increase on “rises in energy wholesale markets and compulsory non-energy costs”. It said this included costs for decarbonising electricity generation and the upgrade to smart meters – which the government aims to have completed by 2020.

ScottishPower UK retail director Colin McNeill said: “This price change follows months of cost increases that have already led to significant rises in fixed price products that now unfortunately have to be reflected in standard prices.

“This increase will apply to one in three of our customers, and we continue to work hard to move even more customers to our fixed price deals.

McNeil said the firm will be writing to all those affected, “outlining the changes and encouraging more loyal customers to move to a deal that best suits them”.
